Best Dog Ever

Our family was blessed to certainly have the best dog ever.  Yes, some might argue this, but we really did!  Shadow came to us as a puppy. She was a black fuzz ball, playful and tender with the little kids in our family.  She was a schnauzer mix which calmed her barking down a bit.  In fact, she rarely  barked.  She would sit up on the deck and watch the children play in the backyard in the summertime.  I remember a couple of times she would come to the back door and whine. When I went out to see why, sure enough someone had fallen or gotten hurt somehow. She was like the dog on "Peter Pan" called "Nanna." Shadow loved her family and we loved her.  Ten years she was our loyal pet. Last summer when we went camping she jumped in the fishing boat and smiled the whole time as Mike and Jared fished.  She would put her front paws over the side of the boat and look down in the water looking for fish!  She jumped out of the boat when it was close to the bank and she swam in.  She played just like she was one of the kids. Many times, she would sneak out the garage when someone opened it.  When she had her fill of checking on the neighborhood cats and running freely through the vicinity she would come and sit on our front porch and wait for me to let her in.  She always came home after her adventures.  We will miss Shadow very much. No pet could ever replace her!
