I've always love Santa Clause. He's my favorite lie! I love the whole elf thing too....except probably not as much as my teenage boys that bend over laughing so hard at some of the funny ways they position the elf each night for their younger siblings to wake to in the morning. I think the funniest was when they had him hanging above the younger kids shower as if "watching their every movement" literally. But, back to Santa.. The magic and excitement of a jolly, fat man dressed in red giving presents to good little children is just FUN! Last year when the younger kids went to bed we had a blast pretending. Our oldest son put on his red coat and climbed out the window stomping across the roof as if he was him. I rang jingle bells and the other two teenage sons and my hubby stood on the porch lying about seeing his sleigh and reindeer. All went well until the children huddled by their window and saw a red coated teenager walk past. They screamed! Our story soon changed with M coming in proclaiming he was close enough to touch his sleigh!!!! This delighted the children. Oh, the fun.
But now the Savior, well that's such a glorious blessing to us all young and old. Tonight we went to Temple Square (again, second time- first time was when we took the kids to "Savior of the World play") anyway, we went to the concert in the old tabernacle there. When they sang Emmanuel my heart flooded with excitement and warmth. My eyes welled up with tears and for a moment I felt as though I was right there with the glorious angels as they sang at the time of his birth. I leaned over to my son N and said did you just feel that. I would like to think I was one of the angels that sang at this time in history...of course our Pre-Mortal life history. This beautiful moment with the Lord of Lords, and King of Kings born in a humble stable. He has all power and continues to show his power through miracles of gifts to us all...not just one time a year, but every moment we need him- IF ONLY WE WILL BELIEVE IN HIM!
